A Bespoke Wedding Invitation Project for Two Very Special People

I recently had the incredible honour of designing wedding invitations and place settings for dear friends, who are now happily married as Mr and Mrs Cormack.

It was such a rich and rewarding experience, from those early conversations about what they were looking for, to shaping a brief together and translating something personal into design.

Before I dive into some reflections about the process, here are some photos of the final pieces, which I’m delighted to now share beyond the wedding party:

The idea stage, if I’m honest, felt very wide at first (cue mild panic attack!). I found myself exploring everything from the 1930s through to the 1950s, it was like taking a creative trip through the decades. But what became clear was the Bride and Groom’s vision: something fun, quirky, family-friendly and unique to them.

One of the most special parts of the process was Erin’s encouragement to lean into my creativity, experiment and explore ideas freely, while trusting me to bring it all together.

That trust made such a difference, allowing the work to evolve into something far more personal. Even though it admittedly felt a little uneasy at times, with a touch of imposter syndrome creeping in and a strong desire to do it justice for a friend who means a lot to me.

With a castle setting, their shared love of history, vintage teacups, classic treats, and a celebration taking place over the Easter weekend, the brief began to take shape and fill with character. Not forgetting one very important detail… their beloved family cat had to make an appearance (I’m still surprised it didn’t walk down the aisle with them too!).

The challenge and the joy was bringing all of these elements together into something cohesive. It was about balancing personality with professionalism, playfulness with elegance, and ensuring every detail felt connected to the wider atmosphere of the day.

I feel the beautiful photo below captures this brilliantly.

Just married. Mr & Mrs Cormack 🤍

Looking back, it’s a project I’m incredibly proud of. Not just for the final outcome, but for what it taught me about collaboration, storytelling, and trusting the creative process… even when it starts giving you the heebie-jeebies!

Most of all, I feel so honoured to have been trusted with something so meaningful, and to have played a small part in Erin and Jamie’s special day 🤍

I’m excited to carry everything I learned into the next chapter of my creative work, perhaps with a newfound sense of confidence.
